THE HISTORY OF BOYNTON BEACH MALL

Boynton Beach Mall opened in October of 1985, to much fanfare. When it opened, the mall provided much-needed shopping, dining, and entertainment options to a growing area in South Florida. The mall’s original anchors included JCPenney, a department store called Burdine’s, Lord & Taylor, and Jordan Marsh. Burdine’s has since been replaced with Macy’s, while Jordan Marsh became a Sears department store (closed in 2019). Throughout the years, the Boynton Beach Mall has remained a premier shopping and entertainment destination in Palm Beach County.

THE BOYNTON BEACH MALL TODAY

Today, the Boynton Beach Mall is as thriving as ever. The mall’s current anchors include Macy’s, JCPenney, Dillard’s, Cinemark, and Christ Fellowship (that’s right: the mall even has a movie theater and a church). The Boynton Beach Mall’s food court features such diverse dining options as Charley’s Grilled Subs, Dutshy’s Caribbean Restaurant, Popeye’s Chicken, Sarku Japan, Subway, Taco Bell, and Sbarro. Other restaurants on the mall property include Tom’s Place BBQ and Versace Gelateria Italiana & Gourmet. The mall is also home to many events, including food truck festivals and youth fun days. The Boynton Beach Malls is truly a “third place” for residents of Palm Beach County.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

The Boynton Beach Mall is still redefining itself to this day. Currently, there are plans to reduce retail and add apartments, offices, and a hotel. This bold plan would make Boynton Beach Mall more of a self-contained community. This plan mirrors similar plans for other malls across the country. As the demand for physical retail spaces decreases (due largely to the dramatic increase in online retail) malls are becoming less a collection of stores and more of a community space where people eat, play, work, and live. The Boynton Beach Mall looks forward to a prosperous future.

THE LOCATION OF THE BOYNTON BEACH MALL

The Boynton Beach Mall is located at 801 N Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach. The mall is conveniently located near I-95. This brings in people from all over South Florida, as well as tourists from other parts of the state and country. The area surrounding this mall is also a thriving neighborhood with plenty of offices, shops, and restaurants (as well as housing). One of the top businesses in Boynton Beach is Brian D. Guralnick Injury Lawyers.
